Well here we are! Alive, not rested, not fed, but wired on one of the best cafe lattes in the world! Yes, that's right, right here in the very, very crazy Delhi. Our first "tout" (=scammer) experience happened within minutes of leaving the customs people. Someone from a hotel, not the one that we registered with, was trying to pick us up with "Welcome Brenda" on a placard. Of course we thought that was our driver. After walking about 50m Jon spotted another "Welcome Mr. Brenda" placard. Ok, will the real driver please stand up, please stand up! Ut-oh, something fishy is going on here. Everything worked out, we drove in very small vehicle, around and almost under the trucks at 2:30 a.m. to our hotel. That was night #1.
Feeling overwhelmed with fine particulate matter so dense, you can almost see it in the air. Hmm, the smells, well its a little like being stuck in a garage with the diesel truck running. People are very friendly, EVERYONE wants to help us -- of course, to visit their sites, brother's restaurants, and cabs. Isn' t that special!
Today is our day of figuring things out. First, we need to find food. No pictures to show you yet, but not to worry they will come. We will call Prem's friend and family soon, hopefully find a bit of peace with them. The hotel staff are very helpful and tomorrow we are hiring a driver to take us around to all the sites that we can manage in one day, complete escort, comments, etc, all for less than $20 Cdn. We love this place!
Ok, that was your quick update -- to be honest, there is a bit of solitude and serenity just in writing to you!
Alright, back to the streets -- ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Welcome to India! Great post and good eye on the "Brenda" signs. Those guys will try ANYthing. It can be overwhelming but you will find peace when the magic and beauty of the culture find you.
